Trekking Guide Refresher Training concludes

The four-day refresher training for trekking guides organized at Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Secretariat concluded on December 13.

Twenty-nine trekking guides from different member agencies of TAAN participated in the training organized jointly by TAAN and High Impact Tourism Training (HITT) under SNV Nepal.

TAAN General Secretary Sagar Pandey handed over certificate of participation to all the participants at a program organized at TAAN on December 13.

Speaking on the occasion, trainings like these are essential to boost confidence and encourage team spirit. “In these four days, you have learnt important issues related to trekking and mountaineering sector. I request you to implement what you learnt in the training,” said Pandey. Pandey also said training programs help build professionalism and career development. 

Dhan Prasad Gurung, coordinator of Training & HR Department of TAAN, said TAAN will organize similar trainings on future as well based on the requirements of trekker workers and trekking agencies. “I am hopeful that the training will be fruitful for your career development and take better care of your clients,” he added. He also thanked all the instructors and HITT under SNV Nepal.

The training covered issues like first aid, leadership, communication, safety and weather. 
Prakash Bhattarai, a participant of the training said, knowledge, skill and confidence that the participants got from the training would help them a lot in professional development. “On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank all the instructors, TAAN and HITT/SNV Nepal for organizing the training,” he added.

Chandra Niroula, Chandra GT, Sunil Gurung, Jayanath Bhandari, Govinda Shrestha, Machhindra Acharya and Gelbu Tshering Sherpa were the facilitators of the training. The facilitators are the graduates of the training of trainers (TOT) organized jointly by TAAN and HITT/SNV Nepal.
