A two-member delegation of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) participated in the 6th International Tourism Commodities Fair 2013 held in Yiwu in China’s Zhejiang province from May 24-27.
TAAN executive committee members Krishna Raj Khatri and Rajendra Pd. Subedee participated in the fair.
Yiwu is famous for its commodity trade and vibrant free markets and is a regional tourist destination, according to Wikipedia.
“The fair had stalls of 24 countries. Similarly, there were numerous stalls of big Chinese companies dealing on tourism and handicraft,” said Khatri. “It is good to know that most of the Chinese visitors know Nepal as a beautiful country. But trekking is a new tourism product for most of them.
Khatri further added that the TAAN team promoted different adventure attractions in Nepal putting special emphasis on trekking trails.
“We found many Chinese visitors interested to visit Nepal. Of them, youngsters are interested toward adventure activities,” Khatri said.
The Nepali delegation also held interaction with deputy mayor and officials of foreign affairs department of Yiwu city. “We also held discussions with travel delegates of other countries to share our experiences,” he added.
