Property worth millions of rupees
was destroyed in a fire that broke out in tourist hub of Thamel at around 10 pm
on May 16. No loss of life, however, has been reported so far.
According to Raju Man Dangol,
general secretary of Thamel Tourism Development Board, three houses were
completely destroyed in the fire. “The fire destroyed properties in as many as
six business enterprises – Pilgrims Books/Café, Gems Jewelry and Handicraft
Shop, Nepal Music, Faces Lounge, Seesha Lounge and Bar, and a pashmina shop.
“We are yet to calculate the loss
figure. According to early estimates, properties worth millions of rupees were
gutted in the fire,” added Dangol.
