Nominations sought for four TAAN awards

Trekking Agencies’ Association
of Nepal (TAAN) has invited nominations from different individuals and organizations
for four awards that it has been providing every year on the occasion of
Sagarmatha Day which falls on May 29.
This year the awards ceremony will
coincide with the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the first ascent of Mt

Kantipur daily on May 6, the association has sought nominations for TAAN
Sagarmatha Journalism Award (for media persons making significant contribution
in development and promotion of adventure tourism), TAAN Sagarmatha Dr Harka
Gurung Award (for individuals and organizations making significant contribution
in promotion and development of eco tourism, village tourism, mountain tourism,
Sustainable Tourism, Responsible Tourism, and in nature conservation), TAAN
Sagarmatha Pasang Lhamu Award (for women making significant contribution in
promoting Nepal in international arena through adventure tourism), and TAAN
Sagarmatha Pema Doma Sherpa Education Award (for individuals or organizations
making significant contribution in tourism education).
Nominations have to be sent to
TAAN Secretariat, Maligaun by May 13.
TAAN Sagarmatha Journalism Award
is given to two persons and carries a purse of Rs 25,000 each, while TAAN
Sagarmatha Dr Harka Gurung Award carries cash prize of Rs 50,000. Similarly, the TAAN Pasang Lhamu Award carries cash prize of Rs 25,000 and TAAN Pema Doma Sherpa Award carries purse of 15,000.
The awards will be distributed
amid a special ceremony organized to celebrate 6th Sagarmatha Day in
Kathmandu on May 29.
