Trekking guide training underway at NATHM

A four-week trekking guide
training is currently underway at Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management
(NATHM). The training is being organized jointly by Trekking Agencies’
Association of Nepal (TAAN) and NATHM.
More than 300 aspirants from
different member agencies are taking part in the training. The training, which
started on January 2, will end on January 31.
The training covers issues like
environment/waste management, tourism, culture, people of Nepal, religion,
flora and fauna, health hygiene and sanitation, first aid, trekking and
mountaineering, communication-english, history, geography, camp site management
rock climbing theory, and mountaineering gear handling, among others.
TAAN has been organizing trekking
guide training ever since its inception in a bid to produce trained manpower
for the sector. Persons with minimum two years experience in trekking were
eligible for the training.
The second batch of training starts
on February 3.
