UAAA grants 'observer member' status to TAAN

Union of Asian Alpine Associations (UAAA) has granted 'observer member' status to Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN). The 21st General Assembly of UAAA held from October 20-25 in Seoul, Korea took the decision. TAAN had applied for UAAA membership during the General Assembly of UAAA held in Tokyo, Japan, in 2014. Immediate Past President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala had attended the meeting on behalf of TAAN. Chandra Prasad Rijal elected TAAN president

The 37th Annual General Meeting of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has elected a new executive committee with Chandra Prasad Rijal as the president. Rijal’s panel almost made a clean sweep, winning 15 of the 17 posts. Rijal got 411   votes while his competitor Sagar Pandey received 332 votes. World Tourism Day 2015 celebrated with much fanfare

Tourism fraternity of the country celebrated World Tourism Day 2015 by organizing different programs throughout the country. A colorful procession was taken out from Thamel in the morning of September. Different travel trade associations participated in the rally with their respective banners. Similarly, Magars, Gurungs and Tharus showcased their traditional dances. Police band and panche baja troupes led the procession. The rally passed through Durbar Marg, Jamal, Kamalchhi, Ason, Indra Chowk, Basantapur and Rantapark before culminating into a program at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). TAAN helping build learning centers in quake-hit areas

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is deploying trekking and mountaineering workers as well as local people to transport construction materials to build Semi-permanent Learning Centers in Ree VDC of Dhading district. Construction materials for the purpose have been donated by different NGOs and INGOs. As many as 1,084 workers are being used for the purpose. The transportation, which began on September 7, is estimated to be completed within 7-9 days. Post-quake assessment finds Ruby Valley safe to trek

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Samarth-NMDP recently conducted a 10-day field visit of Ganesh Himal-Ruby Valley area to assess damages on the trail caused by the April 25 earthquake. Domestic airfare to come down from Friday

Domestic airlines have decided to reduce airfare with effect from Friday. A meeting of Airlines Operator Association of Nepal (AOAN) held in Kathmandu on Tuesday decided to reduce airfare by a minimum of Rs 170. The decision comes on the back of reduction in price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). NOC reduce price of ATF by Rs 15 per liter to Rs 118 on Sunday. Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has completed rehabilitation of community trails in nine village development committees (VDCs) of Dhading district. TAAN mobilized local villagers as well as trekking workers for trail rehabilitation works. The Earthquake Response Team (ERT) of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has set up two base camps at Bhalche of Nuwakot and Mungchet of Rasuwa districts for distributing food in Sertung and Tipling VDCs of Dhading districts. Govt officially reopens heritage sites to visitors

The government has reopened most of the cultural heritage sites that were damaged by the earthquake of April 25 in its efforts to lure back foreign tourists to the country. Six of the seven UNESCO World Heritage sites closed after the quakes have reopened from Monday.
