According to the decision of TAAN Executive meeting held on November 2, TAAN appointed Mr. Ramesh Kumar Mainali as legal advisor and organized a welcome and felicitation program on November 20 wishing for his successful tenure.
TAAN President Mr. Nava Raj Dahal expressed the need of legal advisor for smooth operation of legal activities. He hoped that TAAN will receive legitimate direction from Mr. Mainali to address the legal issues that has become a hurdle for effective operation. President Dahal said that the legal advisor will be playing an important role in effectively implementing TIMS in various trekking regions where concerned local bodies are charging entry fees illegally. Also, the legal advisor will direct TAAN to combat for facilitating trekking entrepreneurs and workers for their welfare in a legitimacy.
TAAN General Secretary Mr. Ang Pemba Sherpa said that overall tourism sector is facing different problems like abandoning TIMS counter, illegally charging entrance fees and lodging fees without proper invoice. “Although, TAAN has urged different ministry and organizations to look after the issues of tourism sector and announced press release, government has not considered the voice raised by TAAN.” Sherpa added. Therefore, TAAN desperately needs a legal advisor who will direct to resolve legal problems and obstacles in tourism sector that TAAN and tourism entrepreneurs are facing particularly in trekking.
Mr. Mainali, acknowledged TAAN Executive Committee for providing him the responsibility as a legal advisor. He ensured that he will study the issues and suggest proper guidelines for making TAAN stronger by settling the problems in legal matters.
Along with President Dahal, Senior Vice President Khum Bahadur Subedi, First Vice- President Jeeban Thapa Magar, General Secretary Ang Pemba Sherpa, Treasurer Ram Krishna Timalsina, Executive Members Gopal Shrestha, P.K Sherpa, Jeevan Lama, Chandra Gurung and Surya Bahadur Bhetwal were present in the program.
