Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is organizing 3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon on April 25, 2018. Like the hugely successful 2nd TAAN International Langtang Marathon, the event this year will again be a full-fledged event held under both men and women category.
The marathon will start from Kyanjin Gompa and end at Syabrubensi, covering 42.195 km. The marathon route will follow through Kyanjin Gompa-Godha Tabela- Lama Hotel- Rimche- Sherpagaon- Khangjim and Syabrubensi. Kyanjin Gompa is a Buddhist monastery located at an altitude of 3870 meter from where one can get breathtaking spectacular views of Langtang ranges. The village of Kyanjin Gompa is often the last destination for most trekkers in Langtang valley trek.
3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon 2018 is going to be held with an aim to develop TAAN International Langtang Marathon as a tourism product. The objective of the marathon is to develop Nepal as an international destination for sports and sporting events. It also aims to promote Nepal with Langtang in particular as one of the major destinations for adventure tourism among both international and national tourists. In addition the event will draw international and national attention to the conservation of Himalayan biodiversity and protection of rare and elusive species like Red Panda.
The top three finishers of the marathon will bag purse of Rs.50, 000, Rs 30, 000 and Rs 20, 000 respectively in either categories. The registration fee for the participating in Marathon is Rs. 2500 for Nepali citizen whereas $75 (equivalent to Nepali Rupees) for foreigners.
TAAN Executive Member, also the coordinator of the event Ritu Gyamdan and whole entire executive committee of TAAN are making a huge effort to make TAAN Intenational Langtang Marathon as a tourism product and grand international event.
