Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) with different tourism organization including Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), organized a rally on September 25 as a part of 38th World Tourism Day. The procession commenced from Employee Provident Fund office, Thamel and went through Durbar Marg and Gantaghar before concluding at the Nepal Tourism Board premises.

The tourism fraternity celebrated 38th World Tourism Day with the theme ‘Sustainable Tourism: A Tool for Development’ on September 27. But Nepal has preponed the celebration to September 25, due to Dashain festival.
MoCTCA Secretary Mr. Maheshwar Neupane honored top three foreign currency earning hotels, travel agencies and trekking agencies, as well as companies contributing in sustainable tourism development.
Speaking at the event, Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the NTB, said that around 50 programs would be organized across the country to celebrate World Tourism Day. “Such events are highly significant for developing countries like Nepal. Promotional programs are very important for us as we are yet to meet our tourism targets,” he added.
TAAN welcomed guest at Tribhuwan International Airport and distributed souvenier to first ten tourists. TAAN also celebrated the day by lighting candle surrounding the premises of TAAN’s Secretariat at Maligaun.
