Nepal Photo Contest Exhibition kicks off

TAAN General Secretary Karna Bahadur Lama hands over award to one of the winners of News category of Nepal Photo Contest 2016.

Nepal Photo Contest Exhibition 2016 kicked off at the Nepal Art Council Gallery in Babar Mahal, Kathmandu, from Thursday.

Winning photographs of the Nepal Photo Contest 2016 has been put on display at the exhibition. Photographs winning first, second and third prizes in seven categories – Nepal Smiles, Nature and Wildlife, News, Daily Life, Sports, Culture and Tourism, and Photo Story – have been put on display at the exhibition. The major attraction is Photo of the Year -- the photograph taken by Deepak Ratna Bajracharya which shows people running to safer place in the Sowyambunath Temple during the April 25, 2015, earthquake.

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) General Secretary Karna Bahadur Lama handed over shields, certificates and cash prizes to winner, and runners-up of the News category.

TAAN is one of the supporters of the exhibition being organized by Photo Journalists (PJ) Club Nepal.  The exhibition will continue until September 6. PJ Club is organizing Photo Tour after Dashain festival, showcasing the winning photographs in eight cities -- Biratnagar, Dharan, Birgunj, Sauraha, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.
