Domestic airlines have decided to reduce airfare with effect from Friday.
A meeting of Airlines Operator Association of Nepal (AOAN) held in Kathmandu on Tuesday decided to reduce airfare by a minimum of Rs 170.
The decision comes on the back of reduction in price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). NOC reduce price of ATF by Rs 15 per liter to Rs 118 on Sunday.
AOAN, however, has decided to reduce price of normal fare only.
The decision means, the airfare for Simra -- the nearest airport from Kathmandu -- would now cost Rs 2,650, while the fare for Dhangadhi -- the farthest airport from the capital -- would drop to Rs 11,140. The existing airfare for Simra and Dhangadhi is Rs 2,820 and Rs 11,720, respectively.
Similarly, AOAN has decided to reduce fare of mountain flight by Rs 560, Pokhara by Rs 255, Bharatpur by Rs 200, Janakpur by Rs 225, Biratnagar by Rs 350, Nepalgunj by Rs 440, Bhairahawa by Rs 310, Bhadrapur by Rs 410, and Tumlingtar by Rs 310.
