Trekking Agencies’ Association Nepal (TAAN) has provided Rs 50,000 each as funeral expenses to family of 13 trekking support staff who lost their lives in different parts of the Annapurna region due to blizzards and avalanches in the third week of October.
Family of Sanu Kaji Ghising, Aitaram Ghising, Ajaya Lama, Top Nath Lamichhane, Lakpa Dorji Lama, Some Lama, Wangdi Lopchan, Lama Pemba Lopchan, Roman Tamang, Dawa Syangbo, Dawa Sidar Tamang, Shante Tamang and Dojri Sherpa have already received checks from TAAN.
The checks were distributed in the presence of TAAN President Ramesh Dhamala, Senior Vice President Keshav Pandey, 1st Vice President Kami Rinji Sherpa, 2nd Vice President Kul Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary Sagar Pandey, Secretary Pasang Sherpa, Treasurer Gopal Babu Shrestha and Joint Treasufer Tilak Thapa Magar, members of the TAAN executive committee, and representatives of four trade unions of trekking workers.
The support was provided from the TIMS Welfare Fund.
As many as 39 foreign trekkers and Nepali support staff died in the tragic incident while hundreds other were rescued alive.
