A delegation of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN)
led by its President Ramesh Dhamala on Wednesday met Minister for Culture,
Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Bhim Acharya and congratulated him for
assuming the post.
Office-bearers and executive members congratulated Minister
Acharya by offering khadas and bouquets. Later, President Dhamala informed the
minister about TAAN, its objectives and activities. Likewise, he also
introduced office-bearers and executive members to the minister.
Saying that umbrella associations of tourism enterprises have to
register and work under the provision prescribed for other NGOs, the delegation
requested Minister Acharya to put in place a separate provision for
registration of organizations like TAAN.
President Dhamala also drew the attention of Minister Acharya
toward different problems and challenges in the trekking sector.
Responding to the delegation, Minister Acharya asked TAAN to
come up with a brief proposal for overall development of the entire tourism industry.
“I think you should with representatives of other travel trade associations to
identify the pressing issues in the industry. Then we can sit together and look
into it,” he added.
Along with President Dhamala, Senior Vice President Keshav
Pandey, 2nd Vice President Kul Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary Sagar Pandey,
Treasurer Gopal Babu Shrestha and Joint Treasurer Tilak Thapa Magar and
Executive Members Nilhari Bastola, Meghanad Timalsina, Namaraj Gauli and Bidhya
Hirachan were also in the delegation. Similarly, TAAN CEO Gangasagar Pant,
Operations Officer Devendra Dangol and Macchindra Acharya of TAAN Media Center
were also present on the occasion.
