TAAN participates in GITM Korea
November 20 , 2012
A delegation of Nepali tourism
entrepreneurs led by Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) recently
participated in the Gyeonggi International Travel Mart 2012 held in Gyeonggi of
South Korea.
TAAN Secretary D B Gurung led the
Nepali delegation in the three-day fair. Other participants in the fair were
representatives from Shashi’s Holidays, Aeroland Tours and White Himalayan
Trekking.
“The overall response was
positive. South Korea has always remained a dependable market for us. If the
language barrier is sorted by producing more trained guides, we can bring in
more tourists from Korea,” Gurung said after returning from South Korea. “Korea
is a big market and we should tap its potential to the fullest.”
But Gurung said visitor turnout
in the fair was not so encouraging. “There only a few tour operators,” he
added.
The delegation also participated
in a series of B2B sessions with Korean investors from November 4-6. The
meeting was organized by Seoul Partners House to promote Korean investment in
Nepal.
