Three trekkers die in Mustang

Three foreign trekkers died in Mustang in different incidents on October 26.


According to District Police Office, Mustang, Israeli trekker Eran Cohen, 25, fell off a wooden bridge into the Kali Gandaki River. His body was found 3 km downstream, Juddha Khatri, a sub-inspector at District Police Office, Mustang said.


The Israeli was trekking alone.


Similarly, German trekker Elke Heinig died of altitude sickness at 5,100 meters. According to Khatri, Heinig breathed her last while being rushed to a local hospital for treatment.


Another trekker, Joseph John of Austria, died of heart attack in his tent, according to Khatri.


Eleven people were killed in an avalanche on Mount Manaslu in September.
